Overview

 

The presentation will address the forthcoming EU Machinery Regulation (EU) 2023/1230, which will replace the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC starting in 2027.

 

It will outline the key changes, transitional provisions, and new obligations that arise from the regulation, with particular attention to digital documentation, safety requirements, and the impact of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence.

Robert J. Hannemann, Head of Conformity Services, Swiss Safety Center

Robert Hannemann is an Electrical and Industrial Engineer and has been working in the fields of explosion protection, machinery safety, and pressure equipment safety since 2013. He began his professional career at ET Energie Technologie in Brunnthal (near Munich, Germany), where he was responsible for testing hydrogen pressure storage systems. He then joined Wagner International AG (CH), working in conformity management for the Machinery Directive and ATEX Directive.

Since 2019, he has been with the Swiss Safety Center, where he has been serving as Head of the Conformity Services Department since 2020. In this role, he and his team support companies in the market placement of products and plants – including risk assessments, functional safety evaluations, inspections, conformity assessments, and consulting. In addition, he is a Certified Machinery Safety Expert (CMSE, Pilz) and is active as a lecturer both at the Swiss Safety Center Academy and at industry conferences and professional events.
