Jonathan Gawthrop
Jonathan is the Group Chief QHSE Officer at OCS Group, where he leads the strategic development and global delivery of quality, health, safety, and environmental (QHSE) initiatives. In this role, he is responsible for embedding a culture of safety excellence across international operations, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring that high standards of quality and risk management are consistently achieved.
A recognised leader in the field, Jonathan led the organisation to achieve the world’s first certification to ISO 45003 in 2021, demonstrating a pioneering commitment to psychological health and workplace wellbeing. His contributions to safety leadership were further acknowledged in 2024 when he received the prestigious Sir George Earle Trophy from Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA).
Jonathan is a Fellow of both the Institute of Leadership and the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management. He has also been awarded the IIRSM President’s Commendation in recognition of his significant contribution to advancing global risk and safety management practices.
Academically, Jonathan holds master’s degrees in Organisational Behaviour Change and Health Research, alongside a Level 7 Diploma in Strategic Safety Leadership. His expertise spans organisational transformation, behavioural safety, and the integration of health and wellbeing into corporate strategy. In addition to his executive responsibilities, Jonathan serves as a Board Trustee for both the Society of Occupational Medicine and the British Safety Council. He is also Chair of the MIND Mental Health at Work Leadership Council, where he champions the advancement of mental health and wellbeing in the workplace at a national level.
