Katherine Evans

Hi I'm Katherine (she/her)
An award-winning rebel, a women’s intersectional equity consultant, and mining geologist, having worked offshore, underground, and at -40c, I've racked up squiggly career in mineral extraction. I’m the mental health & wellbeing chair for the Quarries National Joint Advisory Committees (QNJAC), and the founder of Bold as Brass, a tribe and catalyst for industry culture change. My aim is to disrupt the status quo long enough to make a lasting impact on workplace culture, sustainable extraction techniques, and the lives of our workforce.
I’ve turned my concentration towards improving women’s safety in traditionally masculine and safety critical workspaces, focusing on the top issues women face, both dangerous and impacting upon their career progression. In doing so I’ve uncovered the roots of the PPE problem, not just for women but for every PPE wearing person whose body or requirements doesn't conform to 'standard'. I've infiltrated the entire PPE industry, from designers to regulators, to ensure ‘inclusive’ isn’t just a word muttered in meetings but is integral to the design process.
