Peter Thomas, Strategic Growth Executive at Intuety and Founder of MySafetyConsultant, explains why he finds technology inspiring

How and why did you get into the field of health and safety?

My background is rooted in security, starting in the military and later as a specialist firearms officer with the police. After working as a sniper in the 2012 London Olympics, I moved into private security in the Middle East. On an Iraqi oil site, I saw just how vital safety roles were and realised that my experience in assessing risks translated naturally into safety work. I haven’t looked back since.

What are your current roles and responsibilities?

I lead strategic growth at Intuety, where we use artificial intelligence (AI) to reshape traditional safety processes. My role focuses on developing AI tools that enable companies to make smarter, data-driven safety decisions. I’m proud to be part of a movement making safety more collaborative and proactive, helping workplaces move from reactive approaches to smarter, data-focused practices.

What are you most proud of?

I founded MySafetyConsultant to support consultants in making a measurable difference for their clients. As a consultant, I understand both the critical role we play in improving workplace safety and the challenges of the role. I’m proud of the community we’re building – a place where consultants connect, share insights, and work together to improve health and safety.

Who or what do you find inspiring?

I’m inspired by the rapid advances in technology. AI has already transformed some industries, and it’s exciting to see what it’s now doing for safety. Watching these tools make health and safety more efficient and effective keeps me driven to explore new ways tech can improve our profession.

What do you do in your spare time?

In my spare time, I enjoy hosting My Safety Tech Podcast, through which I have meaningful discussions with industry experts about the latest in safety tech. Outside of work, I spend time with my wife, our newborn daughter and our Sprocker Spaniel Marvin, enjoying family life in the Somerset countryside.
