Since completing the NEBOSH IIRSM Certificate in Managing Risk, I’ve been able to apply the learnings in several ways:

Understanding the psychological aspects of decision-making:
I've been better able to identify potential biases in decision-making processes within client organisations. For example, when evaluating a new project or opportunity, I’ve consciously considered factors like confirmation bias and groupthink to build the client more bespoke risk management solution. 

Applying risk management principles to service delivery: 
I’ve continued to apply the principles of first line risk assessment and control to develop more robust risk management plans for our clients. For example, during a recent audit at a manufacturing facility, I used the knowledge gained from the qualification to better identify potential hazards and control measures as I could better understand the process the client had followed up to this point. 

The qualification’s focus on organisational risk management has been particularly valuable for me as a risk management contractor. By better understanding the specific ways risks are faced internally by organisations, I can quickly get up to speed when auditing and surveying new clients. This enables me to provide more tailored advice and support to my clients, leading to improved risk management outcomes.

The qualification has boosted my confidence in my role as a risk management consultant. I’m better equipped to identify and assess risks, develop effective control measures and communicate complex risk management concepts to clients. It's given me the confidence to approach risk assessments more systematically and effectively, and to have more insightful conversations with clients about their previous risk management practices.
