Encouraging safety professionals from across the Middle East to become part of the global risk community

The International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM) is delighted to be working in partnership with Avetta on an exciting new initiative to encourage safety professionals from across the Middle East to become part of the global risk community.

Successful applicants to the Salama Bursary will receive Avetta-sponsored membership of IIRSM, providing them with access to a unique community, expertise and knowledge to help them thrive. The name ‘Salama’ represents the word ‘safety’ in Arabic.

Bursary recipients will be carefully selected by a judging panel comprising leading risk management representatives.

Mike Ford, Global Principal Global – EHS and Sustainability, Avetta, said: “Avetta focuses on enhancing supply chain due diligence and assurance with organisations globally. We partner with clients and suppliers, providing programmes enabling scalable and incremental continual improvement, focusing on worker safety, human rights, environmental and climate risk.

"Through the new Salama Bursary, in partnership with IIRSM, we aim to encourage safety professionals from across the Middle East to become part of the global risk community and to put safety first with Avetta.”

IIRSM Corporate Engagement Lead David Hamilton said: "IIRSM is a UK-based professional membership organisation with a global footprint. We help individuals and organisations around the world to feel safe, supported and empowered to identify and manage risks, protecting their environments and lives. We are delighted to be working with our supporting partner Avetta on this exciting bursary. We’re very excited to start 2024 with this great new initiative!”

IRSM membership is recognised internationally, while our training, events and exclusive resources help members learn and grow. From student members building their knowledge to Fellows supporting and influencing their profession, members are part of our diverse community of risk management professionals.

Places for the Salama Bursary are limited, with a closing date of 11 March 2024.
